Privacy
This page describes what SESHU does today. It will be expanded before web results go live, and any change will be dated here.
No accounts or ad profiles
SESHU has no user accounts, no advertising, no analytics scripts and no third-party trackers. Pages load fonts and images only from this site.
One settings cookie
If you change a setting, your browser stores a cookie named seshu_prefs containing only your theme, SafeSearch level, new-tab choice and effects choice. It lasts one year and you can delete it at any time.
Your searches
Web results are not connected yet, so searches are not sent to any search provider. When they are, SESHU's server will send your search terms to its provider, Brave Search, to fetch results. SESHU will not forward your IP address or settings cookie to Brave; Brave's own privacy policy covers what it receives.
SESHU does not keep a history of your searches in its own application.
Hosting logs
Like most websites, SESHU's hosting provider, Hosting.com, records standard web server logs. These can include your IP address, browser type, the time of the request and the page address, which for a results page contains your search terms. How long they are kept depends on the hosting account's settings; this page will state the period once it is confirmed.
Abuse protection
When search goes live, SESHU will count requests per visitor to stop automated abuse. These counters use a one-way hash of your IP address, are not linked to your searches and are deleted within two days.
